As the Unwanted Witness Privacy Moot Court Competition advances into its third edition, it has solidified its place as a pivotal initiative for privacy and data protection practices advocacy. This journey has significantly impacted not only our advocacy efforts but also the law students who have participated in past editions. The competition has been instrumental in honing the advocacy skills and rigorous legal analysis of young law students, preparing them for the complex world of legal practice.

Today, we spotlight our UW Privacy Moot champion, Martin Kityo who claimed the champion title and numerous rewards in the Second Edition of the UW Privacy Moot 2023 alongside his teammate Aida Gift Kisambira.

When you meet Martin, a law student about to graduate from the Islamic University in Uganda (Kampala), you see a young, ambitious legal mind, highly motivated to succeed in this field. It’s no doubt that he is continuing to thrive. With a profound passion for both law and technology, he finds endless fascination in their intersection.

Martin’s journey took a major shift following his participation in the Unwanted Witness Privacy Moot Court Competition 2023, where he earned the title of Best Oralist and co-authored the Best Memorials. His confidence and brilliance are evident in his involvement in various legal platforms. As a natural leader, Martin has shared his expertise by training his peers and living vicariously through their successes.

Beyond his legal pursuits, Martin is intrigued by technology, particularly in innovation, data privacy, and AI. He conducts research in these areas and shares his insights through his tech blogs and lecture notes on law-related platforms, helping numerous students in their studies. His latest milestone includes being named among the top 30 most influential young law students by Lawverse Magazine, a publication that empowers aspiring and established legal professionals through captivating interviews, the latest legal news, and a vibrant community.
