Aim and Purpose

The aim of the Oral Presentation Bootcamp for the Unwanted Witness Privacy Moot Court Competition was to enhance participants' skills in making compelling oral arguments and submissions. This intensive session aimed to provide practical insights, techniques, and strategies to effectively present legal arguments before a moot court panel. By focusing on key areas of oral advocacy, participants would have gained confidence and proficiency in delivering persuasive and articulate oral presentations.

Facilitators

Dr. Victor Lando

Dr. Victor Lando is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Human Rights and Democratisation from the University of Pretoria, and a Doctor of Laws (LLD) degree, also earned from the University of Pretoria. He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Law Society of Kenya, and the International Commission of Jurists. He has over fifteen years of experience in the legal sector with a specialty in human rights, regional integration within the EAC Treaty framework, humanitarian and refugee law as well as constitutional law, technology law, and intellectual property law.


Lilian B. Mahiri-Zaja

Lilian B. Mahiri-Zaja is a Kenyan lawyer with extensive experience in constitutional law, governance, and election management. Ms. Mahiri-Zaja holds a Master of Laws Degree and has served in various national and international institutions, including the Committee of Experts on Constitutional Review and the African Union Commission on International Law. She has also played a key role in developing national policies in Governance. Ms. Mahiri-Zaja served as a Commissioner and Vice Chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission of Kenya (IEBC), where she chaired committees on legal reform and dispute adjudication. Her experience extends to the public sector, where she served as a senior State Counsel. Currently, Ms. Mahiri-Zaja resides in Nairobi, Kenya.
